ORGANISATION. ADVISER. CLIENT.

WE UNDERSTAND ALL THREE

About APT Thinking

APT Thinking was founded by Andrew Twomey, Chartered Wealth Manager and Fellow of CISI, who has worked both as a management consultant and as a wealth manager.

That combination gives us a practical understanding of the different perspectives that shape financial services - from the strategic priorities of an organisation, to the realities faced by advisers, to what clients actually value and respond to.

We understand that what makes sense strategically does not always translate into something that works in practice. We can identify where engagement is likely to happen, where resistance may arise and what needs to change to turn an idea into something that works for the organisation, its advisers and its clients.

Practical expertise, not just theory.

Our approach is grounded in experience. We bring together consulting expertise, first-hand wealth management knowledge and the perspectives of experienced practitioners across the industry.

Alongside our core team, we have a network of trusted associates and access to the experience and insights of financial advisers. This allows us to bring the right expertise to each engagement without imposing a large consulting structure on our clients.

The result is practical, commercially focused advice - grounded in how financial services actually works.

We don't just identify what could be done. We help our clients understand what will work, why it will work and how to make it happen.

About
Andrew Twomey

Andrew Twomey is a management consultant specialising in private banking and wealth management, with experience spanning consultancy, financial advice, client proposition development and governance.

He began his career with PwC Consulting in London, working with some of the UK’s leading private banking and wealth management providers. His consulting experience included supporting an organisation-wide transformation ahead of the Retail Distribution Review, developing client propositions, reviewing offshore planning propositions and supporting Know Your Client initiatives.

Wanting to experience wealth management from the other side, Andrew subsequently established his own advice practice with a leading UK network, focused on relationship-based financial advice. He later transitioned the practice to a network specialising in technology-enabled advice.

As a wealth manager, Andrew advised Mass Affluent, High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth clients across a wide range of sectors and industries, helping them navigate their financial planning needs.

This combination of consulting and hands-on wealth management experience gives Andrew a perspective that is relatively unusual in the industry. He has seen different advice models and propositions from both sides of the table-understanding not only how they are designed, but how they work in practice for advisers and clients.

Andrew has also gained valuable experience outside the commercial environment. As a charity trustee, he supported an organisation through its journey from a small, early-stage charity to substantial growth, gaining first-hand experience of governance, strategy, organisational development and the challenges that come with growth.

He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of a leading online publisher serving the Financial Services industry, providing an additional perspective on the issues, trends and opportunities shaping the sector.

It is this combination of consulting, practical wealth management, governance and board-level experience, together with a passion for the industry and a belief in its potential for improvement, that led Andrew back to consultancy and the establishment of APT Thinking.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University, Melbourne, is a Chartered Wealth Manager and Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), and holds the Investment Management Certificate from CFA UK and a PRINCE2 qualification.

Andrew holds UK, Australian, and Italian citizenship, making international project delivery easier to achieve.
